REVIEW: Aphrodite Olive Oil Hair Mask Moisture And Shine

I wasn't sure if I want to review this product but since I found no reviews online I decided it might be useful for someone looking for it. Today we'll talk about Aphrodite Olive Oil Hair Mask Moisture And Shine that my mom got for me from Greece.

The packaging has that Greek cosmetics style and I like it. It contains 150 ml of mask which for me is a small amount because I have a lot of thick hair. I didn't buy this but if I am not mistaken it was around 10€ so not exactly the most affordable product out there especially for the amount.

The Aphrodite mask is advertised as free of silicones and a bunch of other things but I will focus on the silicones. Silicones envelop the hair and it give it that shiny look and also prevent it from splitting. I have found them to be an important part of my routine because my hair was dyed when I used this but also I have very long hair and it's extremely hard to maintain it healthy with no splits without silicones. I personally consider this a minus and I think it's one of the reasons this mask didn't perform as I expected it to.

Маската на Aphrodite е рекламирана като без силикони, както и куп други неща, но аз ще се фокусирам на силиконите. Силиконите обгръщат косъма и му придават бляскав вид, както и му пречат да цъфти. За мен са важна част от рутината ми, защото косата ми беше боядисана когато използвах продукта, но също така е и много дълга и е изключително трудно да я поддържам здрава без цъфтежи, ако няма силикони. Аз лично го намирам за минус и мисля, че е една от причините маската да не се справи така както очаквах.

The first ingredient after water is Crambe abyssinica Seed Oil Phytosterol Esters which is an emollient. Behentrimonium Chloride is an antistatic you can very often find in hair products. Glyceryl Stearate is an emollient and an emulsifier. Cetearyl Alcohol is a surfactant, a viscosity control agent and an emulsifier. Lauryl Alcohol is a viscosity control agent and an emulsifier. Myristyl Alcohol is a viscosity control agent and an emollient. Aloe barbadensis Leaf Juice (aloe) and Glycerin are solvents and moisturizers. PEG-40 Stearate and Ceteareth-20 are surfactants and emulsifiers. Hyaluronic Acid and Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans are moisturizers. Hydrolyzed Rice Protein is an antistatic. Wheat Amino Acids, Soy Amino Acids, Arginine HCl, Serine, Threonine (last 3 being amino acids too) are all moisturizers. Olea europaea Fruit Oil (olive) is a solvent, a fragrance and an emollient. Argania spinosa Kernel Extract (argan) is a moisturizer. Cocos nucifera Oil is a fragrance, a moisturizer and an emollient. Tocopheryl Acetate (a derivative of vitamin E) is a moisturizer and an antioxidant. Panthenol is an antistatic and a moisturizer. Keratin is the main constituent of hair and it can fill in the damaged parts. As you can see, this mask lacks emollients and hydrators in the top ingredients and it's why I just felt like it didn't do anything. The ingredients in the end look very interesting but I didn't see any effet or whatsoever. It has a thin watery consistency and it was very easy to spread. It smelled like hair dye which was a big turn-off for me because the fragrance lingered even after showering. I feel like this mask performed way worse than my favorite Le Petit Marseillais conditioners. My hair didn't feel easier to brush after and it was almost like I didn't use any conditioning product at all. It might have been because of my hair type, as I've mentioned many times before I do have very thick product hungry hair and I almost always buy the conditioners and masks for very dry hair because otherwise I simply can't tame my big monster.

Както можете да видите, на маската ѝ липсват емолиенти в топ съставките и затова усещането беше, че не прави нищо. Съставките в края изглеждат много интересно, но не видях никакъв ефект от тях. Има лека водниста консистенция. Миришеше на боя за коса, което беше голям минус за мен, тъй като ароматът оставяше и след душ. Имам чувството, че тази маска се справяше по-зле от любимите ми балсами на Le Petit Marseillais. Косата ми не се усещаше по-лесна за сресване след употреба и беше все едно изобщо не съм ползвала никакъв омекотяващ продукт. Може и да е заради типа ми коса, тъй като съм споменавала много пъти, че имам много гъста коса гладна за продукти и почти винаги си купувам балсами и маски за много суха коса иначе не успявам да приведа чудовището в приличен вид.

If you have thin oily hair you might love this, especially if you are looking for a silicone-free product. But if you have normal/dry/very dry hair, this wouldn't be enough for you and I would suggest to skip it. Ако имате тънка мазна коса, може и да ви хареса, особено, ако си търсите нещо без сулфати. Но ако имате нормална/суха/много суха коса, няма да ви е достатъчна и ви съветвам да я пропуснете.
