REVIEW: Uriage Bariésun Cream SPF 50+

I was planning to do a series with sun protection reviews and maybe one general sun protection post and why it's important all year round. It's already June and for those of us living in the North hemisphere the sun is quite strong already. I'm going to start with a review of Uriage Bariésun Cream with SPF50+.

I use sunscreen all year and I actually got this during the winter. I'm almost out of it, so I have a pretty detailed review for you. It takes me forever to pick a sunscreen. I usually go through the 50 types available in the shop and look through their ingredients and then maybe even check for reviews on my phone.

Използвам слънцезащита цяла година и всъщност този крем си го взех зимата. Вече почти свърши, затова имам доста детайлно ревю за него. Отнема ми цяла вечност да си избера слънцезащитен крем. Обикновено минавам през всичките 50 вида в магазина и преглеждам състава, а понякога и проверявам ревюта на телефона.

Uriage's sun protection comes in bright orange packaging. It doesn't look fancy but it has that pharmaceutical brand look. This cream provides a broad spectrum protection. I wish European brands would start listing the UVA protection with + like the Asians do. I always pick the SPF 50 type, it is beyond me why many people go for the lower ones.

Слънцезащитата на Uriage е в яркооранжеви опаковки. Не изглежда красиво, но има онази визия на фармацевтична марка. Този крем предлага широкоспектърна защита. Иска ми се европейските марки да започнат да обозначават защитата от UVA с + като азиатците. Винаги си взимам вида с фактор 50 и не разбирам защо някой би си взел по-нисък.

As I said, the ingredients are quite decent. Dicaprylyl Carbonate is an emollient, it's a soft silky substance that moisturizes the skin. Uriage Thermal Spring Water is of course a great additive. Methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol is a chemical UV filter, I went through a super long study by the European scientific committee that concluded that the filter is safe for use in sunscreens. Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane is another chemical UV filter, it protects mostly from UVA rays, it's considered safe as well. Ethylhexyl Triazone is a chemical filter absorbing UVB, it's water resistant and considered safe. Glycerin is a solvent and a great moisturizer. Nylon-12 is a synthetic ingredient used as an opacifying agent. It isn't good for the planet but it's safe in skincare. Triacontanyl PVP is a humectant, it's safe to use. Butylene Glycol is a common solvent and moisturizer. Hydrogenated Polydecene is a very good moisturizer. Decyl Glucoside is a very gentle surfactant. C20-22 Alkyl Phosphate is an emulsifier that gives a velvety matte finish, it's also suspected to be UV filter and an antioxidant. C20-22 alcohols are fatty alcohols, used as emulsifiers. Glucose in cosmetics is used as a humectant. Xanthan Gum is a polysaccharide secreted by bacteria used as a stabilizer in cosmetics. Chlorphenesin and Benzoic Acid are the preservatives, the first one is safe but the benzoic acid could cause irritation and acne. The formula also contains Tocopheryl Acetate which is a form of Vitamine E and I'm really curious what exactly it's doing in a sunscreen considering it's very photo unstable.

Както казах съставките са доста прилични. Dicaprylyl Carbonate е емолиент, мека копринена субстанция, която подхранва кожата. Uriage Thermal Spring Water разбира е страхотен бонус. Methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol е химичен UV филтър, прочетох  супер дълго проучване на европейската научна комисия, което заключва, че този филтър е безопасен за употреба в слънцезащита. Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane  е друг химичен филтър, предпазва най-вече от UVA лъчи, също безопасен. Ethylhexyl Triazone е химичен филтър абсорбиращ UVB, водоустойчив е и безопасен. Glycerin е разтворител и страхотен хидратант. Nylon-12 е синтетична съставка използвана като сгъстителен агент. Не е добра за планетата, но е безопасна в козметиката. Triacontanyl PVP e хумектант, безопасен за употреба. Butylene Glycol е често срещан разтворител и хидратант. Hydrogenated Polydecene е е много добър хидратант. Decyl Glucoside е много нежен сърфъктант. C20-22 Alkyl Phosphate е емулсифиант, който придава копринено матов завършек, подозиран и като UV филтър и антиоксидант. C20-22 alcohols са мастни алкохоли използвани като емулсифианти. Glucose в козметиката се ползва като хумектант. Xanthan Gum е полизахарид секретиран от бактерии, който се ползва като стабилизант в козметиката. Chlorphenesin и Benzoic Acid са консервантите, първият е безопасен, но бензоената киселина може да презизвика дразнения и акне. Формулата съдържа също така и Tocopheryl Acetate, който е форма на Витамин Е и съм много любопитна какво прави точно в слънцезащитен крем като се има предвид, че е много фотонестабилен.

If you're not sensitive to benzoic acid, this sunscreen actually has a very good formula. The cream itself smells like Avon perfume. I know this is really weird association but I'm certain I owned something by Avon with this fragrance. The fragrance is quite strong but I think there is perfume free version as well. I personally enjoy it.

Ако не сте чувствителни към бензоена киселина, това всъщност е много добра формула. Кремът ми мирише на парфюм на Avon, което е много странна асоциация, но съм сигурна, че съм имала нещо на Avon с този аромат. Ароматът е доста силен, но има и вариант без парфюми. На мен лично ми харесва.

The cream is white and very silky when applied. It's not a surprise considering the formula contains so many moisturizing ingredients. However my problem with this sunscreen as well with all other chemical sunscreens I have tried is that it makes my skin look super greasy. Right after application my skin looks gorgeous, it's super smooth and silky. But an hour later my skin looks greasy and disgusting and my makeup starts smudging. It was okay during winter because it kept my skin moist. But now when it's hot it's just really hard to use. I have to be careful which BB I choose and still I need to put some powder or use absorbing sheets couple of hours later.

Кремът е бюл и много мек веднъж нанесен. Не е изненадващо предвид формулата богата на подхранващи съставки. Но, моят проблем с този слънцезащитен крем, както и с други  с химични филтри, които съм пробвала е, че прави кожата ми много мазна. Веднага след нанасяне кожата изглежда прекрасно, много е мека и копринена. Но час по-късно изглежда мазна и отвратителна и гримът ми започва да се размазва. През зимата беше добре, защото поддържаше кожата ми похранена. Но сега когато е горещо е много труден за употреба. Трябва да внимавам коe BB избирам и пак имам нужда от пудра или абсорбиращи листчета след няколко часа.

This sunscreen might be suitable for people with dry or very dehydrated skin but people with normal, combination and oily skin probably won't like it, especially for the warmer months. It doesn't leave a white cast, I haven't tested it thoroughly with flashlight but as far as I can remember it was doing okay.

Този слънцезащитен крем може да е подходящ за суха или много дехидратирана кожа, но хората с нормална, комбинирана или мазна кожа сигурно няма да харесат, особено за топлите месеци. Не оставя бял отенък, не съм го тествала подробно със светкавица, но доколкото си спомням се справяше добре.

Overall, I was happy I tested this sunscreen but it confirmed my suspicions that Western sunscreens just aren't compatible with my skin. What I like:  Affordable (around 10€)  Good amount of product (50 ml)  Economical Convenient packaging  Good ingredients  Doesn't leave a white cast  Broad spectrum protection Water resistant  What I don't like:  Makes skin look greasy All in all: 3/5  As I said, I have couple of more sun protection reviews coming, including a body spray and a lip balm. Yesterday I picked up a new body spray by Biotherm and today I received my Bioré sunscreen so I will review this in the upcoming weeks as well. I hope you found this review useful!

Като цяло доволна съм, че тествах този крем, но само затвърди подозренията ми, че западните слънцезащити не са подходящи за моята кожа. Какво ми харесва:  Достъпен (около 10€)  Добро количество продукт (50 мл)  Икономичен Удобна опаковка  Добри съставки  Не оставя бял отенък Широкоспектърна защита Водоустойчив Какво не ми харесва:  Прави кожата мазна Обща оценка: 3/5  Както казах, имам още няколко ревюта за слънцезащита на път, включително спрей за тяло и балсам за устни. Вчера грабнах нов спрей за тяло на Biotherm, а днес получих слънцезащитният крем на Bioré, които също ще се появат в блога в следващите седмици. Надявам се, че ревюто ви беше полезно!
