REVIEW: SkinFood Extra Virgin Olive Essence

I realized my posts for July have all been very summer-related so I am gonna keep it that way and show you a hair care product suitable for damaged hair. I almost used up that bottle and it's time to show you SkinFood Extra Virgin Olive Essence. I bought more than a year ago and the price was ridiculously low so I just couldn't miss it. Ever since I've been using it a lot, especially for the past 4-5 months.

I took these photos maybe in November... or December? Well you can see that the bottle was still almost full. Now I have 10-15 ml left. The bottle is really cute with the typical retro packaging of SkinFood. I know some people find their packaging too old-school but I think it's adorable and naturalistic. In a way it looks like a label that someone made at home. I just realized maybe it's meant to look like a olive oil bottle. Though, thankfully it's made of thick plastic. There's only 60 ml of product inside but that's still a lot (using it for a year...).

The pump is really convenient and does the job. I usually need 5-6 pumps for my whole hair but I understand people with normal amount of hair (I just wrote hear here and I have no idea why) will need 1 or 2. But even with my "fur" I still find this product very economical.

The angle of that photo is really weird, I have no idea what I was doing

I usually use this oil every time after I wash my hair. I have other oils too but I've been trying to use up this one. It makes hair shinier, glossier and easier to comb. The silicones make even slightly damaged hair look healthy. Also if you use hairdryer, it's gonna dry a lot quicker.

The ingredient list is really simple. Silicones come first and then there's olive oil. I really appreciate the lack of unnecessary ingredients.

The smell is a bit disappointing. I expected it to smell exactly like olive oil but it's really subtle and a little bit perfumy. I don't really feel it after I apply it. The consistency is of a thick almost jelly-like oil. It's easy to work with but if you're not careful and apply too much it will make the hair look heavy and oily.

I'm not really sure I have what more to say about this hair oil. It's a really cute, well working product! I'm glad I tried it out and I am definitely not disappointed with it but I don't think I will repurchase it because I want to keep experimenting.

What I like:
* Affordable price (around $5)
* Cute packaging
* A lot of product (60 ml)
* Economical
* Makes hair dry quicker
* Gives shine and glossiness

What I don't like:
* Smell doesn't last very long
* It can make the hair oily

All in all: 4/5

What's your favorite hair oil? I have few others which I haven't used much yet but none of them makes me  go "wow, that's a must-have". I wonder if it's just me and my untameable hair.

* Достъпна цена (около 5 долара)
* Сладурска опаковка
* Голямо количество продукт (60 мл)
* Икономично
* Кара косата да съхне по-бързо
* Придава блясък и лъскавина

  3. Oh, no, it's very different. I use natural olive oil for masks but it just makes hair very oil and poor-looking if I use it after shower. It's the small amount of silicones which fill the damaged part of the hairs and envelop them thus making the hair look shiny and healthier than it is.

  4. These types of silicone hair oils are not gonna make your hair look oily, even the consistency is not the same of a regular natural oil. Don't be scared to use small amount of them, they really work!
